WEN DPA2412T Drill Press Table Review: Check the Fit First

The WEN DPA2412T is a sensible shortcut for a hobby woodworker who wants a larger drill-press surface and a repeatable fence position without building a table from scratch. Compatibility is the deciding issue. A table can clamp onto a drill press and still interfere with its feed handles or leave too little space for the work you intended to do.

What is included?

These details come from WEN's DPA2412T product page. The familiar “24 × 12” name is nominal. WEN describes compatibility with the majority of tables in the mounting range, not an unconditional fit guarantee for every machine.

What Amazon reviews reveal

In the Amazon table reviews ↗, Jon Lawson's August 4, 2026 report describes a stable installation and no problems with the tracks. Alan Maxted's January 26, 2026 review also reports a satisfactory fit.

An August 20, 2025 review by Michael E. Dingas describes interference between the fence and drill-press feed, including difficulties with small workpieces. An older February 27, 2019 review by Brian, with subsequent updates, reports T-track screws pulling out under clamp pressure. Those older reports identify things to inspect; they do not prove every current unit has the same problem.

Our conclusion is conditional: this can save fabrication time, but check mounting security, track condition, and the full handle sweep before accepting the setup. Do not treat the modifications suggested in customer reviews as required installation steps or endorsed repairs.

Three fit checks that matter more than the brand badge

First, check the underside. Measure the original table and inspect its ribs, rim, and accessible clamping surfaces. A width within the advertised range does not tell you whether the supplied clamps can engage securely.

Second, check moving parts. With the machine disconnected, position the accessory table and fence where your work requires them. Move the feed through its usable travel and check the table-height control. A fence position that works for a broad board may not work for a narrow part close to the bit.

Third, check remaining vertical space. The accessory surface, backing material, workpiece, and bit all consume room. Think about your longest bit and thickest common workpiece before deciding that extra tabletop area is the only measurement that matters.

Where the fence and stop help

For a batch of matching wooden components, a fence establishes the distance from an edge and the stop establishes position along that edge. That can reduce repeated marking, but it does not set drilling depth or verify that your layout is correct. Make a test part, measure it, and keep the same reference faces against the fence and stop throughout the batch.

Clear chips between parts so debris does not change how a workpiece sits. Use suitable workholding following the machine and accessory instructions; the fence and stop alone do not secure the work against rotation. Stop if the table or track moves when clamped.

The removable insert gives you a replaceable area beneath through-holes. Measure the supplied insert before making replacements instead of assuming a nominal plywood thickness will sit flush. Keep the surface dry and protect the MDF from damage in storage.

Buy this or build your own?

Buy it when your machine passes the clearance checks and a ready-made fence and stop will get a project moving. Build or choose another table when you need a lower fence, an unusual mounting arrangement, or a workholding system that this table cannot support securely. Compare the total price with the material, track, hardware, and time needed for a DIY version.

Are workpiece hold-down clamps included?

The published feature list identifies the table, fence, stop, and mounting hardware rather than a separate set of workpiece hold-downs. Check the selected package and budget for compatible workholding if needed. Mounting clamps and workpiece clamps do different jobs.

Does a larger table increase drilling capacity?

It adds support area; it does not increase the drill press's throat capacity, motor power, or spindle travel.
