The removable cups are the reason to consider this model. You can take one fastener size to the work instead of placing an open case beside a clamp, glue bottle, and unfinished panel. At cleanup, return the cup and check that no screw sits across its top edge before closing the lid.

Deep cups make sense for working quantities of screws, anchors, and fittings. They are less convenient when only a few thin pieces occupy the bottom, because small items can become harder to see and retrieve. If most of your inventory consists of tiny electronics hardware, a shallower case or smaller containers may make better use of space.

DWST08020: choose it for compact ToughSystem organization

The DWST08020 manufacturer page identifies the compact organizer within ToughSystem 2.0. DEWALT's dimension reference lists its exterior at about 14.45 × 10.47 × 5.2 inches. Exterior size helps with shelf planning; it is not a cup-interior measurement.

We would consider this instead of a larger case when the project needs a small subset of stock and the existing storage already uses ToughSystem 2.0. Keeping one kit deliberately compact can be easier to handle than filling a full-width organizer with items you seldom need.

The tradeoff is the number and proportions of the compartments in the selected configuration. Do not compare only the overall case volume. Put representative fasteners and fittings into groups and work out how many distinct compartments they need. Six categories of larger parts may work well; fifteen screw sizes require either another case or a different arrangement.

Will small parts mix when you carry the case?

Look for three separate things: how the cups locate in the base, how their upper edges meet the closed lid, and whether all closures engage without pressure from overfilled compartments. A clear lid makes inspection easier, but its presence alone proves none of these details.

When your organizer arrives, inspect it empty for cracks, warped cups, and latch alignment. Then test the intended contents over a clear tray using the ordinary carrying orientation. Do not start by inverting a full case of sorted hardware over the floor. If the smallest items can cross compartments in normal handling, use suitable closed inner containers or choose another case.

Avoid filling cups past their rim. A long fastener lying diagonally across a divider can prevent the lid seating correctly, even when a latch appears closed. Keep loose tools in a different kit if they can strike the cups during transport.

How much hardware should travel?

Are these cases waterproof?

Use the exact model's published rating and instructions. The DWST14825's IP53 claim is not a submersion rating, and a weather-resistance statement is not a guarantee for every type of dust or chemical exposure.

Can I mix brands of removable cups?

Do not assume cross-brand or even cross-family fit. Base ribs and lid engagement matter, not just the cup's approximate outside size. Order by the intended case model.

Can I wall mount a portable case?

Only with an arrangement supported for that case and load. For frequent fixed access, wall-mounted bins may be a better format than repeatedly lifting a loaded organizer off a homemade hook.

Which should I buy first?
